Abstract

The study of meaning has become a well-established language science called semantics; a science specialized in studying the meanings of phrases and structures in different contexts. Although semantics is studied among other multiple levels of language, it has become the most significant of them all in modern linguistics. As for the purpose of studying meaning, we study the phonological, morphological, syntactic, and lexical levels of language. Hence, the study aimed to detect the semantic models of linguistic shift in some of the structures of the Holy Quran by answering the following questions:

  1. To what extent does the old grammatical analysis take into account the semantic dimensions of the linguistic structures?

2 - What semantic dimensions are achieved by the linguistic shift in the Holy Quran?

By linking some of these shift structures and the contexts in which they were presented, the study concluded that linguistic shift in the Holy Quran is a rich methodological feature linked to the semantic dimension of linguistic composition in a manner appropriate to the context. The study used the descriptive and analytical approach by examining some of the models of linguistic shift and indicating the semantic dimension that it means.
