Translation the Figure of Speech of Exception in the Holy Quran into English, Between Formal and Dynamic Equivalence, the Example of Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s Translation

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to highlight the various ways of how the figure of speech of exception in the Holy Quran was translated into English between Formal and Dynamic Equivalence,  The paper evolve after the researcher read rules of the figure speech of exception in Arabic grammar, and compared some of its translations in the Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s Translation, consequently  he noticed that Yusuf used to translate one Arabic exception style into different English styles, however sometimes he translate different Arabic Exception style into one English style, despite the precise grammatical rules laid by the classical grammarians which specify the meaning of each type of exception formation, so this paper is going to explore why the Translator chose to render his translation of restrain that way, is there any semantic motive behind such translation or not? This study requires the use of dynamic and formal equivalence theory as well as using descriptive method.
