The purpose of this research is to demonstrate the phenomenon of textual overlap in selected models from the letters of Ibn Ḥijjah Al-Ḥamawī (d. 837 B.H. / 1433 A.D.) in his book (Qahwat al-Inshāʼ). The study focuses on the kind of poetic input in these lettersas they are localized in their diverse contexts, which represent different literary eras, beginning with the pre-Islamic era and ending with the Abbasid era. As a result, several examples of these overlaps were reviewed and incorporated inside their historic eras, which served as the primary titles for this research.
The study shows that the utilization rate of poetry varied from one era to the other. Additionally, the selected poetry entries were examined and the reasons for which Al-Ḥamawī invoked them were uncovered by establishing relationships between them and the texts that include them. The methods used to employ these poetry entries were also studied, which are described as either direct or indirect employment.
