Abstract

This study aims at monitoring the efforts of contemporary Arab researchers to examine the features of contemporary literary critiques, and trends in the Arab critical heritage. It also indicates the levels of rooting that the researchers have established for each of the approaches that have been received, and presents their results in order to achieve a balance between the efforts of the ancients Arab critics versus Western modern critical approaches.

In order to achieve these aims, the study followed an analytical descriptive approach, accompanied by tools from the comparative approach, which are sequenced in a presentation of the most prominent Western critical methods, and monitored examples of attempts by Arab researchers to prove the critical knowledge of the ancient Arab researchers.

The study concluded by identifying the value of modern Arabic literary criticism efforts in monitoring the efforts of the ancient Arab critics, and identified the most prominent characteristics of these efforts, in addition to discussing its position and biases.
