A Proposed Program for Enhancing Left-Hand Accompaniment on the Qanoun Using Notes of the Arpeggio: An Experimental Study

Abstract

 

The study aims to propose an educational program to play the qanoun through accompaniment by Arpeggio tones.The study sample consisted of 6 students specializing in the qanun instrument in the Music Department at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Yarmouk University and amateur qanun students in private music institutes in Amman, representing 50% of the study population in the aforementioned places. The program includes three warm-up exercises and eight songs. The researcher has mainly used the experimental method to conduct this study. The program has been designed based on a gradual increase of difficulty to reach an accurate level of accompaniment using both hands. The study has reached results, the most important of which is that the proposed program has proved its effectiveness and its outcomes are positive; after the end of its period, the difficulties facing the study sample students disappeared, and their performance was relatively good and proficient. Of the most important recommendations of the study is the need to pay attention to the different playing techniques on the qanun instrument and to use them in building training programmes.
