Parallelism in Abd al-Rahim Mahmoud’s Poetry and Its Effect on Rhythm and Meaning

This study examines the phenomenon of parallelism in Abd al-Raḥīm Maḥmūd’s poetry. It intends to identify its effect on rhythm and meaning to reveal its role in achieving cohesion and coherence poetic text. The study adopts the analytical stylistic approach that is based on surveying the phenomenon, identifying its features, and analyzing them to arrive at results. The study includes four sections, preceded by an introductory overview of the concept of parallelism. The four sections address: syntactic parallelism, phonetic parallelism, morphological parallelism, and semantic parallelism.
The findings indicate that different types of parallelism significantly overlap in Abd al-Raḥīm Maḥmūd’s poetry, showing the poet’s profound understanding of the significance of parallelism in enriching the internal music of the poetic text and achieving harmony and cohesion within its structures. The study also concluded that Parallelism plays an important role in deepening meaning and strengthening the central idea of the poetic text
