The Structure and Functions of Cohesion in the Letters of Zayed the First

This research is an attempt to critically examine the textual cohesion in the letters of Zayed the First, in terms of their structure and function to explore the concept of cohesion and its elements represented lexically in the sample of study sample. It analyzed lexical cohesion, types of repetition, lexical collocation, grammatical cohesion, and all kinds of referral. The main focus of this study arises from the preceding linguistic basis to examine the letters of Zayed the First from a textual standpoint by looking at the textual components that constitute these letters to shift from sentential grammar to textual grammar. The researcher used the textual approach, which includes all conditions of textuality to analyze the letters of Zayed the First.
Hence, the results showed that the discourse/ the text incorporates one linguistic unit embracing more than one sentence indicating that the sentences, words, phrases, and all text components are unified by syntactic linguistic cohesion, communicative function, and logical intellectual semantic harmony that achieve the disintegration of the text. To conclude, the paper mainly focuses on the conditions underpinning the text, and consequently shifts from textual theories to examine an Arabic text -Zayed the First’s letters- within the parameters of analytical approaches.
