The Manifestations of Betrayal in Selected Models of Modern Arabic Poetry

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the manifestations of treachery and betrayal in the models of contemporary Arabic poetry. Through the extrapolating of the most blatant manifestations of treachery and betrayal which contemporary Arab poet interested in them. As well as monitoring the most prominent symbols of treachery and betrayal used by poets in the construction of their poems, in addition to clarifying the positions of poets from the issues of treachery and betrayal they expressed. 

To achieve its objectives, the study used analytical, descriptive tools. Using some of its components with semiotic tools and  structuralism tools, the study shows that the manifestations of treason that appeared in contemporary Arabic poetry are numerous, notably: treason, treachery, and emotional betrayal. The symbols of betrayal mentioned by the poet are also numerous, notably: Judas Iscariot, Ibn al-Alqami, Abu Regaal, and other secondary symbols. All this was not separate from the positions of poets from the issue of treason and betrayal, ranging from rejection, interpretation, and sometimes acceptance.
