Abstract

The purpose of the study to identify the negative repercussions of the Corona pandemic on the members of the Jordanian society from psychological, social, economic, and health perspectives. The study mainly relied on the analytical descriptive approach, using the electronic questionnaire tool, on a soft sample of one thousand ninety-six (1096) individuals distributed in all governorates of the Kingdom of Jordan for the year 2020, during the outbreak of the Corona pandemic and the imposition of quarantine. The study reached several results, the most prominent of which is that most of the respondents’ answers were from the northern governorates. The results also show that the income of the respondents was not permanently interrupted during the Corona pandemic. It was also found that the psychological repercussions had the most impact on members of Jordanian society during the outbreak of the Corona pandemic. These psychological repercussions are represented by fear of themselves because of what is being circulated and heard about COVID-19, constant feeling of boredom, sadness, and distraction of thoughts during the quarantine period. The social repercussions of the Corona pandemic came second, and were manifested in the increase in family disputes during the crisis compared to what it was before the pandemic, the decrease in social interaction with friends and relatives, and the increase in the time that family members spend with each other. There has been plenty of free time for reading and entertainment with family. The economic repercussions were manifested in the increase in the financial burdens on family during the Corona pandemic, the family need to borrow and debt in order to cover their financial expenses, and the decrease in income, and this, on the other hand, made them have the ability to rationalize consumption more than they used to before the pandemic. The repercussions of the Corona pandemic that pertain to health came in the last place through the feeling of the respondents that there is an increase in constant headaches during the Corona pandemic more than before.
