The Social and Psychological Factors Driving Taking Photos and Videos via Smart Phone Devices in Real-Life Situations: A Social Study

Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the social and psychological factors that lie behind taking pictures and videoclips via smartphones in real life situations. A field study was conducted on two groups of college students namely: Ajloun University College and Princess Rahma University College, which are both affiliated with Al-Balqa Applied University.  To achieve the goals of the study, a social survey and a questionnaire were adminstered as the tools for data collection. The study sample comprised (639) students selected randomly from the study community.

The findings of the study revealed that the general level of the driving factors for taking pictures scored an average level and a mathematical mean of (3.450). In addition, the findings indicated that the level of social and psychological factors scored an average level and mathematical mean of (3.581) and (3.320), respectively. Moreover, the results showed that there are statistically significant differences pertaining to the level of social factors in relation to the following variables: gender and age, in favor to males and the age group of (18-20 years). Finally, the findings showed that there were statistically significant differences in the level of psychological factors based upon the gender variable to the advantage of males
