Abstract

The study aimed to examine the levels of mindful self-care, ego depletion, and resilience among older adults, and to investigate the correlations between mindful self-care and both ego depletion and resilience. It also aimed to test the validity of the proposed model that posits a mediating role for resilience in this relationship.  The study sample consisted of 273 older adults. The researcher used the Mindful Self-Care Scale developed by Cook-Cottone and Guyker (2018), the Ego Depletion Scale developed by Nes et al. (2013), and the Resilience Scale for Older Adults developed by Li and Ow (2022). A descriptive predictive approach was also employed, and partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the proposed theoretical model. The study revealed a relationship between mindful self-care and both ego depletion and resilience, and confirmed the validity of the proposed model, which incorporates resilience as a mediating variable in the relationship between mindful self-care and ego depletion
